From Stein's to Wright Cuts — the story behind the chair.
At Wright Cuts, we're proud to carry on a barbershop legacy that has been part of Delano for more than a century. That story began in 1915, when Armand Stein started cutting hair in Delano, Minnesota. After spending a few years away, Armand returned in the 1930s and opened what would become a local staple: Stein's Barbershop.
As a young boy, Fran Stein grew up inside those walls, washing mirrors, sweeping floors, and learning the value of hard work and community from his dad. In 1966, Fran officially started cutting hair alongside Armand, and the two worked side by side for 11 years until Armand retired at 76 years old. Fran continued the tradition for decades, becoming a familiar face and trusted barber to generations of Delano families.
Through multiple locations, changing times, and even a few buildings lost along the way, Stein's remained a constant in the community. More than a decade ago, Fran moved the shop into its current home — the very shop that is now Wright Cuts. When Fran decided it was finally time to trade the barber chair for the golf course and winters in Arizona, he passed the shop on to us with one goal in mind: to keep the spirit of Stein's alive.
Today, that tradition continues with a new generation of barbers. Imoni brings youthful energy, ambition, and a drive to grow his craft and clientele every single day, while Lowell brings decades of experience and a lifetime dedicated to barbering. Together, we're committed to honoring the legacy that Armand and Fran built — one haircut, one conversation, and one customer at a time.
